Question 3

How do we know there is a God?

Scripture

  1. Romans 1:18–20 [1]
God’s Wrath on Unrighteousness For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. (ESV)
  2. Psalm 19:1 [1]
The Law of the LORD Is Perfect To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (ESV)
  3. Psalm 19:2 [1]
Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. (ESV)
  4. 2 Timothy 3:15 [1]
and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. (ESV)
  5. 1 Corinthians 1:21–24 [1]
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. (ESV)
  6. 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 [1]
But, as it is written, “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him”— these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. (ESV)
