What is idolatry?

Scripture

  1. 1 Chronicles 16:26 [1]
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens. (ESV)
  2. Galatians 4:8–9 [1]
Paul’s Concern for the Galatians Formerly, when you did not know God, you were enslaved to those that by nature are not gods. (ESV)
  3. Ephesians 5:5 [1]
For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. (ESV)
  4. Philemon 19 [1]
I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it—to say nothing of your owing me even your own self. (ESV)
